Overview

As a Front End Developer you will be a high profile and key member of our team, helping to drive the development of production applications and tools for our customers, including but not limited to the modernization of existing applications, and the creation of new applications.

Your primary focus will be on developing and implementing user interface component-based applications, ensuring that these and the overall application are robust and easy to maintain. You will coordinate with the rest of the team working on different layers of the infrastructure. Therefore, a commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and quality product is important.

You will work in accordance with our development methodologies and leverage industry best practices, tools, and infrastructure to deliver high quality solutions.

Responsibilities

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • Develop well-designed user-facing features that are clear, documented, tested and delivered continuously to production
  • Build reusable components and front-end libraries for future use
  • Translate designs and wireframes into high quality code
  • Optimize components for maximum performance across an array of web-capable devices and browsers
  • Identify and address product bugs, deficiencies, and performance bottlenecks
  • Remain up-to-date on emerging technologies and architectures
  • Leverage technical knowledge to cut scope while maintaining or achieving the overall goals of the product
  • Leverage technical knowledge to improve the quality and efficiency of   applications and tools
  • Mentor other team members to improve front-end software development and delivery skills.

Skills
  • A minimum of 3 years relevant development experience with JavaScript, including DOM manipulation
  • Experience with React.js and its core principles
  • Experience with popular React.js workflows (such as Redux)
  • Familiarity with newer specifications of EcmaScript
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs
  • Knowledge of modern authorization mechanisms, such as JSON Web Token
  • Familiarity with modern front-end build pipelines and tools
  • Experience with common front-end development tools such as Babel, Webpack, NPM, etc.
  • Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements
  • A knack for benchmarking and optimization
  • Experience using code management and revision services such as Github or Bitbucket
  • Familiarity with automated testing, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery
  • Ability to drive a feature or bug fix from discovery through to a stable deployment to production
  • Strong communication skills for documenting workflows, tools, or complex areas of a codebase
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and multi-task efficiently
  • Ability to work and collaborate in a team
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

Responsibilities

  • Review business requirements identified by the Architect through customer workshops and communicated via the customer product backlog and participate in the clarification of features and estimates within the Scrum process. Ensure deviations from requirements are clearly documented and agreed with the project manager prior to completion
  • Take responsibility for the technical quality of the features delivered across the team, including documentation, testing strategies, and code
  • Identify and address product bugs, deficiencies, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Remain up-to-date on emerging technologies and architecture and propose ways to use them in current and upcoming projects
  • Leverage technical knowledge to cut scope while maintaining or achieving the overall goals of the product
  • Leverage technical knowledge to improve the quality and efficiency of applications and tools

Skills

  • Ability to drive a feature or bug fix from discovery through to a stable deployment to production
  • Strong communication skills for documenting workflows, tools, or complex areas of a codebase
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and multi-task efficiently
  • Ability to lead a Scrum team and manage the daily operational tasks of a project
  • Ability to work and collaborate in a team
  • Participates in the development community (speaker at events, meetup organizer, blogging, or contributor to open-source software projects)
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
